Young Professionals OC Raises Awareness & Funds for Child Abuse Prevention

Children’s Bureau’s Young Professionals of Orange County (YPOC)’s 3rd annual fundraising event, THE Happy Hour, raised an impressive $20,000 in support of child abuse prevention. The evening took place on May 4 at the Michelson Sky Garden in Irvine, which features stunning panoramic views from its rooftop. This event was co-chaired by Melissa Chelius of Keller Williams Realty and Jennifer Oswald of Eagle Home Mortgage.

Approximately 200 young professionals gathered to enjoy various types of food, beer, wine and an opportunity drawing. Delectable bites were provided by Blackmarket Bakery, Good Choice Sushi, L.A. Brisket, Lazy Dog Restaurant, Luna Grill, Romano’s Macaroni Grill, Mendocino Farms, and Rusty Pelican. Apart from the tasty food that was generously provided, guests sipped on unique hoppy offerings from Ballast Point and The Bruery, such as the Girl Grey made with Earl Grey tea and almonds.

The sponsors that graciously showed their support were Jones Day as Presenting Sponsor, Premier Glassware Sponsors Metaverse Law and Signature Resources Capital Management; Craft Sponsors Trojan Battery Company and Rutan & Tucker LLP; Barrel Sponsor Gibson Dunn; and, as Pint Sponsors, Andersen Tax, Barbara Mallonee DDS, Inc., Chicago Title, Eagle Home Mortgage, First American Title, Land Rover Newport Beach, Spinnaker Investment Group, and TIES.com.

As the setting sun splashed the rooftop in brilliant orange and pink, Children’s Bureau Trustee Jaclyn Stahl, YPOC President Lily Li, and Children’s Bureau CEO and President Ron Brown gave speeches about the important role of YPOC and the impact the group has on the organization as a whole. The evening culminated in a raffle drawing with exciting prizes, including tickets to an Angels game, Knotts Berry Farm and the South Coast Repertory Theatre; SoulCycle and Barry’s Bootcamp classes; a night’s stay at the Hyatt House Irvine; and gift cards to local restaurants.

Through the selfless altruism of guests, vendors and sponsors, THE Happy Hour raised awareness and much-needed funds to benefit Children’s Bureau’s prevention, treatment and advocacy work. THE Happy Hour was also a fun way for young professionals to socialize and enjoy great food and beverages.
