Hero of Hope Spotlight | Jeffrey Fields with Windes

Children’s Bureau relies on the support from our sponsors and donors to provide the families in our community the resources they need to thrive. The virtual Heroes of Hope campaign is the current endeavor to raise funds for vulnerable children and we are so thankful to all our donors. Today, we will be highlighting one of the campaign’s heroes: Jeffrey Fields with Windes.

Windes is a Southern California accounting firm and a recognized leader in the areas of advisory, audit, assurance, tax preparation, and more. The Partner-In-Charge of their Irvine location, Jeff Fields, was introduced to Children’s Bureau by a mentor twelve years ago and he and the accounting firm have been consistent supporters ever since.

Jeff currently sits on the Orange County Board of Trustees and has been a member of multiple development committees, including the committee for Heroes of Hope. In the past, they have sponsored events such as our Orange County Super Bowl Benefit, Clambake, Summer Soiree, and the Adopt-a-Family program during the holidays.

As “safer at home” orders altered traditional fundraising streams such as in-person events, Windes was quick to step in and support Children’s Bureau’s inaugural virtual fundraising campaign.

“I felt it was important to support Heroes of Hope because there is even a greater need this year for the services Children’s Bureau provides for the communities and families they serve,” shared Jeff.  “With the loss of jobs, kids not being in school, and the uncertainty of COVID-19, there are so many additional stressors that can lead to difficult and dangerous situations for families at risk.”

Throughout the campaign, episodes about Children’s Bureau heroes, the dedicated staff, and the families served, were shared to highlight the programs offered and the impact on the community. Episode 7, which focused on child-abuse prevention and building communities, was one that resonated with Jeff the most.

Coming from a family that struggled with abuse himself, Jeff is passionate about supporting families break that abusive cycle. He understands the importance of providing young families the resources and communities needed to create a safe and healthy environment for their children.

“My focus is to give my kids a father like I never had,” Jeff said. “And anyway that I can support other families break these cycles of child abuse and have a better life, I am 100% behind that.”

In addition to their support of Children’s Bureau, Windes was founded on a philosophy of giving back more to the community than the benefits received. In fact, Windes has been recognized as one of Orange County’s most community-minded companies by the Civic 50 Orange County program each year since its inception and was acknowledged as the 2019 Medium OC Workforce Award Winner. This recognition sets the standard for corporate civic engagement for companies seeking to best use their time, talent, and resources to improve the quality of life in communities where they do business.

As the firm nears its 100th anniversary, they continue to take pride in its founding values and look for ways they can support the communities they work in. See a full list of organizations they support here.

“There is no better way to give back to the community than to support organizations like Children’s Bureau that are putting in the hard work to make a change,” said Jeff.
