Child development is community development. When we intervene early in children’s lives, we see the results later on in a more prosperous future for every parent, caregiver, and community member.
That’s why Children’s Bureau is one of the largest investors in child abuse prevention in the country. Child abuse can occur in many different ways, including neglect and maltreatment which take a lasting toll on the health and well-being of young children. We provide family members with the tools, strategies, and resources needed to raise happy, productive children.
With the goal of preventing child abuse, maltreatment, and neglect, Children’s Bureau offers a variety of programs to support each parent and caregiver in areas such as parenting skills, child welfare, social services, and family support.
We also offer programs to strengthen overall communities and train the public to recognize signs of suspected child abuse in a child’s behavior so we can take action early in a child’s life to aid harm prevention and child safety. In addition to being a resource for vulnerable communities, our team works to raise public awareness for continued child development, parenting, and youth programs.
