Press Release | Children’s Bureau Announces New Chief Development Officer
(Los Angeles, CA) After an extensive seven-month search, Children’s Bureau of Southern California, a nonprofit leader in child abuse prevention, is proud to announce the selection of Monica Lee Copeland, MFA, CFRE as its new Chief Development Officer as of December 6, 2021.
“We are excited to welcome Monica Lee to Children’s Bureau as she brings extensive experience in fund development, business management and marketing that we know will strengthen the agency’s ability to offer prevention programs and services to any family in our community that needs them,” said Children’s Bureau President & CEO Dr. E. Ronald Brown.
Copeland previously served as the Chief Development Officer for Planned Parenthood of Pasadena – San Gabriel Valley and Cerritos College Foundation. She was also the Chief Marketing Officer at Stone Ally and Chief Executive Officer at MLC & Company where she led fundraising initiatives for KidSave International, Pasadena Pops Orchestra and Agape International, among others. Throughout her career, Copeland has secured over $250 million in philanthropic fundraising and billions for private equity endeavors.
Copeland is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) and holds a Master of Fine Arts from Vermont College of Fine Arts and a bachelor’s degree from the College of Arts and Sciences at Northwestern University. She has a long history of community involvement, philanthropy and volunteerism and is active on several boards, including the Foothills of Los Angeles Alumni Association of Kappa Kappa Gamma.

In this role, Copeland will oversee all individual, corporate, and foundation giving, fundraising campaigns, and events. Her vast knowledge of team-centered business management, tech-savvy marketing, and donor-focused experience will be essential in growing unrestricted funding to support the agency’s vision of children thriving in strong families and communities.
