Annual Creans' Clambake a Rockin' Success in Raising Funds for Children's Bureau
The 11th Annual Creans' Clambake & Rockin' Lobster Bash held on June 28 at Shady Canyon Golf Club was a huge success raising an estimated $202,000 net for Children's Bureau, a child abuse prevention and treatment agency. More than 350 guests attended the sold-out event and were greeted with complimentary cocktails while they bid on 105 unique silent auction items, seven live auction items and purchased clam shells which were redeemed for a prize. Actor Erik Estrada was the evening's emcee which also included a steak and lobster dinner, live dancing to the sounds of The Tijuana Dogs and a rousing live auction thanks to professional auctioneer Jeff Frieden. Los Angeles Family Center Takes Shape With Financing From U.S. Bank and Stonehenge Capital
Children's Bureau, a nonprofit leader in the prevention and treatment of child abuse, today announced that it received New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC) financing from U.S. Bank and Stonehenge Capital to complete its new $24 million Family Center near downtown Los Angeles. The capital injection from the U.S. Treasury's New Markets Tax Credit program leverages the more than $20 million Children's Bureau raised through its 'Stories of Promise' capital campaign. The agency's partnership with U.S. Bancorp Community Development Corporation (USBCDC), U.S. Bank Commercial Banking and the Community Development subsidiary of Stonehenge Capital Company provided Children's Bureau with financing necessary to complete the renovation of their 46,000 square-foot warehouse at 1910 Magnolia Avenue and convert it into its permanent headquarters and the new Family Center at Magnolia Place, which is expected to be fully up and running by Fall 2008. $1 Million Pro Bono Children's Bureau Ad Campaign Aims to Recruit Foster and Adoptive Parents
With an increasing need to recruit foster and adoptive parents, Children's Bureau launched a creative advertising campaign in January using modern illustrations of children and parents along with simple messages to love, provide, adopt or foster a child. This is the 13th year that Children's Bureau has partnered with several outdoor companies (including CBS/Decaux, Clear Channel Outdoor, JCDecaux - North America, Regency Outdoor Advertising, Titan Worldwide, Van Wagner Outdoor and Vista Media) to promote the agency on hundreds of billboards, bus shelters, bus side panels, interior bus panels, airport and shopping mall shelters throughout Southern California. Children's Bureau unveiled a new logo in January that maintains the integrity of the agency's previous logo adding a fresh look that is meaningful and timeless. The new image was created pro bono by The Ballpark Advertising Agency. They worked for nearly a year with Children's Bureau's marketing and communications committee, staff, volunteer leaders and others to develop a look that translates easily to various mediums such as stationery, marketing materials, billboards, print ads and building signage.
