FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Come Be a Very Important Duck at the 15th Annual Mighty Rubber Ducky Derby IRVINE, CA - September 24, 2008
(Irvine, CA) Be a VID (Very Important Duck) at the 15th Annual Mighty Rubber Ducky Derby. This special event, which also features the 3rd Annual Just Ducky Car Show, benefits Children's Bureau. It will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 5 at Wild Rivers Waterpark in Irvine.
Children's Bureau is taking over the waterpark for the day and entry will be by donation only. 'Adopt' a single duck for $15, or a flock of your choice. Enjoy Wild Rivers at half-price (rides will be open), have a chance to win prizes and support the work that Children's Bureau does to prevent child abuse in Orange County, all with one donation.
The VID Reception, located in the private African Queen section of the park, is reserved for guests who make a contribution of $90 per adult and $30 per child. The ticket price includes racing ducks, unlimited tastings from 18 restaurants, entertainment and a silent auction.
'Even though it sounds fancy, the VID Reception is actually quite casual. It's outdoors, kids in bathing suits are running around, and adults are balancing plates of food while bidding on silent auction items. Our extremely generous restaurant partners serve everything from hot dogs to prime rib and the proceeds enable Children's Bureau to continue to help thousands of kids and their families in Orange County. It's serious fun,' said Mickie Shapiro, VID Reception Chair.
Registration for the VID Reception and 'adoptions' of rubber ducks can be done online at www.DuckyDerbyOC.com, or by calling (714) 517-1900, ext. 203. All participants who purchase ducks have a chance to win dozens of prizes, including the Grand Prize of a Harley-Davidson XL 883 Sportster motorcycle or $7,500 cash. Channel 7 news anchor Phillip Palmer is scheduled to emcee the event.
Children's Bureau (www.all4kids.org) is a nonprofit leader in the prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect. The agency's Orange County Division was founded in 1987 and helps more than 6,000 children and their families each year through programs and services such as counseling, parenting programs, family resource centers, family support services, foster care, adoption and more.
