First Lady Maria Shriver visited Magnolia Place Family Center on February 26, 2009 as part of her WE Connect campaign (www.weconnect.net), a multi-dimensional partnership designed to help California’s working families. The event connected 400 families with the information and tools they need to take full advantage of valuable financial resources, such as Earned Income Tax Credit.

Carnival Event is Big Winner for Angelics

The 7th Annual Carnival at the Pier event, held March 15 at Santa Monica Pier, was a big winner for The Angelic Auxiliary and Children’s Bureau as $80,000 net was raised for programs benefitting at-risk children and their parents. Nearly 400 children and their parents attended this popular family event chaired by Dawn Fleischner, Kari Rasmussen and Gretchen Theodore.

Volunteer Leader Profile — Stephanie Campbell
When Stephanie Campbell retired as an executive with DIRECTV, she was interested in volunteering at an organization where good work was done and where she could help in different areas. A friend introduced her to Children’s Bureau in 2006 and she was impressed with the organization, board leadership and staff. Stephanie volunteers her time weekly in the development department and for the NuParent program.
